Gallery Isabelle Van Den Eynde is proud to present ‘What Lies Beneath’, a new group show of work from young Iranian artists working in film, installation, painting and embroidery from February 14 – March 10, 2011. Reflecting Gallery IVDE’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and promoting new talent, the group represents some of the most exciting new artists at work from within Iran and the wider diaspora.
The driving force behind the new show is Gallery IVDE’s Rokni Haerizadeh, one of the best-known contemporary artists of his generation and a hugely influential figure on the Iranian art scene. Having selected the five participants of ‘What Lies Beneath’ from his extensive network of friends, acquaintances and contemporaries, the show echoes with Haerizadeh’s distinctive blend of wit, satire and artistic exploration. Haerizadeh is a key role model to many younger Iranian artists, as patron, critic or tutor, and this show emphasizes his commitment to supporting emerging artists from his home country.
